This last point is particularly important. When doing these activities, you want the students to have as much practice as possible. To achieve this, follow the three-step procedure below:

1Demonstrate the activity with the whole class, so they have a clear model.

2Organize groups, and check they understand what to do.

3Groups repeat the activity in step 1, with one student acting as the ‘teacher’.

ACTIVITY: Word Bingo

1Write twelve words on the board which you have recently been studying. Tell students (individually or in groups) to write down eight of these words, and to keep them secret.

2Explain that you will read out these words in a random order. If you read a word which the student has written down, they should cross it out. When they have crossed out all the words, the individual or group should shout: Bingo!

3The first person or group to cross out all their words is the winner.
